Meet Maggie
"My work is inspired by the coast, particularly the wild and beautiful coastline of Cornwall. I try to capture a moment of stillness in an ever changing landscape.
I am, and always have been an artist, though at times I just didn’t recognize it."
About Maggie's paintings
Maggie’s paintings focus on the space where sea meets land. They are inspired by the light reflecting off the wet sand and by the tracks left behind by the outgoing tide.
Her expressive coastal landscapes capture a sense of being on the beach at low tide, standing at the water’s edge watching the ocean ebb and flow.
Painting for Maggie is a meditative process that she can completely lose herself in, building layers, scraping back, creating balance, capturing a perfect moment but also building a sense of history, of time passing with the movement of the tides.
Her loose abstracted style allows viewers to imagine themselves being there, and to feel that sense of space and meditative calm that being by the sea can evoke.
ESCAPE THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF EVERYDAY LIFE AND EXPERIENCE THE SENSE OF PEACE AND SPACE THAT BEING BY THE OCEAN CAN BRING
