Friday 25th - Sunday 27th September 2026

A weekend spent in the gorgeous town of Porthleven, filling up our creative pots.

From the moment you arrive, you can let go - Maggie and Helena have the weekend beautifully arranged. Think nourishing home-cooked meals, as well as the chance to explore some of the best local spots; fresh ocean air; and a setting that seems made for quiet focus and artistic play.

For many artists, creativity can be a solitary pursuit. These coastal retreats are designed to change that. They bring people together to talk, experiment, make, and reconnect with the joy of creating in good company. Leave with your creative energy restored and new ideas ready to carry home.

What's included in the Art Retreat?

Welcome dinner at 6.00 pm on Friday 25th followed by two days of shared art and workshops, two group lunches and a group dinner with wine on the Saturday.  It also includes Maggie's time and expertise all weekend to help you with your art practice.

Residential option: Friday 25th (arrive from 5pm) – Monday 28th September (leave by 10am)

This add-on residential option includes three nights accommodation in our sea view property with just a few steps from your bedroom to your sketching spot, and three breakfasts.

During the weekend we will have the time to visit some of the eight art galleries scattered around the centre of Porthleven. Our accommodation is just five minutes walk from the harbour, and we will be guided in plein air sketching by Maggie while we are exploring our surroundings.

At the house Maggie will be on hand to share her experience and techniques for sketching, and looking at how we can turn these sketches and our response to the location into paintings.  Over the course of the weekend Maggie will demonstrate and guide you using a variety of water based media including acrylics.

We will be spoilt for choice when it comes to inspiration, with the beach also just a short walk away, and the famous South West Coast Path running along the clifftops.

Please bring a sketchbook and some sketching tools. A suggested list will be provided later.

Maggie will have a selection of painting materials for you to use over the weekend and will provide all the materials for an acrylics workshop during the weekend.

Location

We will be staying in a modern and bright, five bedroom house, with a terrace and enclosed garden. It features an open plan living space with a central table for our communal meals and art practice. The house has three newly appointed bathrooms which are shared between the bedrooms.

The house is only a five-minute walk down into the centre of Porthleven and has amazing 180 degree views over the sea, coastline and harbour. The nearby beach is also less than five minutes walk away.
